A message from the Principals of the three comprehensive Albemarle County Public Schools high schools...
Dear Albemarle County Public Schools High School Communities,
In order to provide a family-friendly and safe environment for all, the three ACPS comprehensive high schools will be enforcing a pilot clear bag procedure at all ticketed events on school campuses during fall of this year. High school ticketed events are often held in one of the following areas: stadium; gymnasium; auditorium; cafeteria; and other outside sporting venues.
This clear bag procedure is being implemented as a way of keeping fans and attendees safer, while also expediting entry into events. It will limit the type of bags allowed into ticketed ACPS events, with some exceptions for medical or childcare needs. Event staff, with the support of school administrators, will be enforcing this procedure at event entrances.
Clear bags that allow contents to be seen will be permitted. Sizes are not restrictive, nor is bag style, as long as it is a clear, see-through container. Clear bags will be made available for purchase at school entrances upon request to guests. The following will not be permitted: backpacks, camera bags, cinch bags, purses, fanny packs, coolers, and computer bags.
Students who are participating in the ticketed event in question will be permitted to take their equipment bags into the locker room or other designated space.
We appreciate your cooperation through the course of the fall semester as we work to keep our students, staff, families, and community as safe as possible.
Thank you for your support,
Darah Bonham Principal, Albemarle High School
Beth Costa Principal, Monticello High School
Jenn Sublette Principal, Western Albemarle High School
